Futurists are supposed to be ahead of their time, yet if you click on the news icon of this futurist site, you'll see that the issues stop in 2001. Seems like misleading advertising to me.
Some people take sport way too seriously. First there were footy fans calling Gary Ablett "God". Now this.
Here's confirmation of something I've long suspected: positive thinking does not increase longevity, as many claim it does.
Here's a good piece on useful idiots.
My guess is that every one of these predictions will be completely wrong.
Boffins reckon that only amazingly advanced technology can save the world from catastrophic, pollution-induced climate change. And which countries are the only ones with even a slight chance of producing this technology? Industrialized ones of course. More evidence that although capitalism is hugely destructive, it's hugely creative as well. And it's also the best -- or the least worst -- system for the environment, despite what all those leftie pinheads keep saying.

Here's a good piece about how most of the experts who were consulted about the Washington sniper's identity consistently missed the mark. I think the pointless profiling frenzy was due to TV powerbrokers watching way too many serial killer thrillers, quite frankly.
This piece informs us that huge amounts of methane are emitted by car drivers. I reckon there's a very clean, green source of energy there. If gas burning efficiency continues to increase, we'll soon see everyone driving their own fart-powered vehicles. With this stuff as the new oil, peace will break out in the Middle East, and global warming will be halted.
Remember that research project devoted to finding the world's funniest joke? Here's the project's official website.
If you thought all that crap about date rape was a thing of the past, have look at this. It's just plain scary.
One day I'll find out how to put a permanent e-mail link on this site. In the meantime, if you want to write me with opinions, compliments or abuse, please e-mail me at matthaydenwriter@yahoo.com.au

It appears that deaths from booze, fags and crap food are rising significantly all over the developed (and developing) world. Kind of ironic considering all those well-intentioned public health campaigns that we've had to endure over the last several decades -- most of them aimed at steering us away from those very temptations!
Could this motherhood movement gather force? My bet is that it'll be the next big thing.

Is Islamabad? Well, if you're chick I'd say it probably is.

If you're not shitting yourself already about what the next terrorist act will be, then this should do the trick.

More evidence that Islamo-fascists had it in for Aussies long before Howard pledged allegiance to Dubya. They don't just want to exterminate us, they want to take our land as well.
This will present a problem for the fluffs: whose land claim is more valid? The indigenes, or the harshly treated Islamic freedom fighters? They'll be bonging up a smoke-storm trying to figure that one out.
Having spent years amongst hard-core leftie boneheads in Artsville, I've come to the conclusion that they're as racist an intolerant as any KKK Grand Wizard. The difference is that their bigotry is given a caring, sharing sheen by the media and deemed the opposite. Here's a pithy and provocative piece on this theme by Andrew Sullivan.
In a world full of anxiety, violence, and hatred and it's refreshing to hear a little bit of good news from time to time.
Just re that post about growing sexual conservatism in France: Okay, it's getting prudish, but at least it's not as bad as Iran, where you can go to jail for kissing in public.
Here's a great piece exposing the philosophical shonkiness of the bimbo-feminist version of the abuse excuse, formally known as "Battered Woman Syndrome" (BWS).
My guess is that soon there'll be another acronym floating around the media to cover all these politically motivated acts of terror, violence and mass murder that have been happening lately: "OFFS" (Oppressed Freedom Fighter Syndrome).
France has always had a well-deserved reputation for indulging in guilt-free hedonism. But lately things have been changing. Crikey, it's becoming like Victorian England!
